Our Katahdin sheep are almost exclusively pasture raised. The main exception to this is the alfalfa that pregnant ewes and new moms are given, to support milk production for their lambs. Otherwise, we do occasionally offer cracked corn to our flock, but only as a treat, and most of the time, they only eat a handful before wandering off to find their preferred food - fresh green grass!
We have a commercial flock of purebred Katahdins currently. Our ewes are excellent mothers, who routinely have triplets without being flushed prior to breeding, and they keep all of their lambs fat and happy with milk, until they are old enough to be weaned. We are working to add a registered Katahdin ram to our flock for next year, so keep tuned for updates on that!
We only have a small flock, so we have very limited availability on sheep for sale throughout the year.
